Nakamatsu
Margaret Jane Nakamatsu (Janie) is a lawyer whose
practice emphasizes estate planning, trust administration, probate,
guardianship, eldercare law, and trust dispute arbitration.
Janie was raised in Texas and graduated from the
University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in History & Political
Sciences. She also graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in
1979 before moving to Hawaii. In 1980 she began working for American
Savings Bank as Staff Attorney, and eventually became Senior Vice
President, General Counsel, & Compliance Officer.
Janie served as an elected member of the State of
Hawaii Board of Education from 1980 - 1984, and on the Le Jardin Board of
Trustees from 1990-1991. She has been a member of the American Business
Women of America, and has served on the Board of Directors for the
Christian Legal Society. She is an active member of her church, where she
serves as a financial counselor for debtors and leads support groups for
women. Janie is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and its Real
Property and Elder Law Sections.
